Rare Disease Day

Since 2008, February 28th has been recognized internationally as Rare Disease Day to shine a light on certain rare conditions. In the United States alone, there are around 3,500 people who die each year of mesothelioma. Some of the largest problems facing those diagnosed with a rare disease such as mesothelioma is access to doctors who are knowledgeable about their unique condition and the lack of research to find a cure because big drug companies lack the financial incentive.

The federal government has created a special category for diseases that affect less than 200,000 people a year called "orphan diseases." This special designation helps provide incentives for research and to lower some of the regulatory hurdles for those researching the "orphan diseases."

We at the Paul Law Firm have been fighting for a cure since 2001 through the Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America where 100% of donations go towards research. We pay all administrative costs so that every dollar can go towards saving lives. Click here to find out more.
